The Sphere of Influence
The second sphere of leadership is the Sphere of Influence.
The Sphere of Influence is the area or environment wherein a person or leadership utilizes the means of assigned, delegated or assumed authority to cause others to perform or conform to the dictate, opinions, and suggestions one may communicate or emanate with relatively little resistance, protest, or condition from others whom one may lead.
Those areas that belong to the sphere of influence include the group that one is the primary leader, a part or division of a group that one has an assigned or designated responsibility over, and one’s family, to the extent of prevailing dynamics.
In all of these, one is required to pay some attention to the opinions, agreement, or any other factor of those who belonged to the group, division, or family and never rely only upon one’s intentions and desires, if one is going to get those people to do as one asked or instructed, or lead any group of people with harmony and effectiveness.
Whereas, one may be the Chief Executive Officer of a company one formed by one’s resources and ingenuity, or the President of a country, the agreement of those who may be on the lowest ladder of the hierarchy of the organization is vital to one’s personal survival as much as one’s ability to attain one’s goals.
We are sure you know of great companies, organizations, or even countries that have ceased to exist or are in a dire condition close to nonexistence. If you were to investigate, it is likely that the root cause of the calamity that befell the organization, etc., is the lack of agreement of the key, or sensitive people, and thus withdrew their cooperation or services, caused the dysfunction that resulted in the dire condition.
