How to Increase Your Company’s Revenue or Gross Income – Part 10
Welcome to the LeadEtics® Consults Actionable Business Advice Series.
In our last discussion, we addressed step 2 of attaining corporate or organizational resilience.
The second corporate or organizational resilient step was “having an Extraordinary Brand”.
The second step addresses “Extraordinary Brand has 1) Brand Truth; 2) Iconic Brand Image; 3) Integrity in all aspects of the brand; 4) Staying true to Basic Purpose and Operating Principles, With No Shortcuts; 5) Acquisition of brand champions; extraordinary level of goodwill; and 6) Extraordinary brands breed extraordinary profitability as basic characteristics.”
In this post, we shall address step three (3) of the four (4) steps factors.
Steps to Attaining Corporate or Organizational Resilience – Step Three/Factor Three. Step four has to do with the having, utilizing, and maintenance of Organization Management Technology.
Step Three/Factor Three
Steps to Attaining Corporate Resilience
Organization Management Technology
For every aspect of life where there is a way to do a particular thing, there is a way to manage an organization.
This way, a knowhow, can be referred to as ‘technology’; the original definition of technology is the method or way of applying art as against the science of the thing.
Therefore, technology has to do with an exact method, way, or know-how necessary to create, produce, or maintain something, in this case, an organization.
There are layers of technology that are vital in the effective and embracive management of an organization to become a dynamic and result-oriented business or social enterprise.
The first of the many vital essences of management technology is the leadership which creates, maintains, and strives to attain the basic purpose, vision, or overall goal of the organization.
The Layers of Group Leadership are as follows, commencing from the most vital and highest downwards.
1. Command, Founder, Vision Maker, or Goal Finder
“Where Command intention is good, simple, clear, wholesome, and feasible, the organization will be on its way to attain the intention.”
This person (it must be a single individual) is the dreamer, maker, and giver of Life, Intentions, and Vision to the organization.
2. Governance Organ of the Organization
“Where leadership, in this case Governance, is inspirational, strong, focused, and on-purpose, the organization will attain Command Intention.”
The governance level will basically be invested in the group of people called the Board of Directors. These people, usually, are shareholders of the organization. In many cases, some of the members of the Board of Directors may not be shareholders.
In fact, there are regulations and best practices in the corporate world that a good company must have some non-executive, non-shareholding members of their Boards. This is to ensure a higher level of transparency and accountability in the activities of the business.
3. Management or the Executing Agent of the Organization
“Where leadership, in this case Management, is competent, diligent, and result-oriented, the organization will prosper.”
Management, headed by the Managing Director and or Chief Executive officer, is the basic purpose, prime vision, strategic directions, strategic plans, and policies executing agent for an organization. Invested in the person and office of the Managing Director and or Chief Executive Office, every sub-strategic planning, delegation, and action directed towards the actualization of Command Intention and Governance Directions fall within the prime jurisdiction of Management.
It would be a disaster for the organization to have either Command or Governance step into the management roles or levels. The exception is where the person of the Command or Governance simultaneously assumes a management position, and act therein independent of their Command or Governance role.
4. Administration or the Organizing Agent of the Organization
“Where leadership, in this case, Administration, is effective, pervasive, supportive, the organization will become a self-motivated, self-correcting, highly responsible, and almost a live organism; with a body of highly effective, self-led, enthusiastic, and highly productive people.”
Administration is hardly given attention in the management of organizations, especially corporates. Some even confuse Management with Administration, thinking that the latter is a part of the former, or vice versa.
To make the meaning of Administration clear, we must define Administer from its Latin root. Administer is rooted in the Latin word, Administrare, which means “to wait on, serve, furnish”.
Management, on the other hand, means “to handle or direct with a degree of skill”.
As we can see, “to wait on, serve, or furnish” vastly differs from “to handle or direct with a degree of skill”.
So, Administration must concern itself with the functions of Coordinating People, Processes, Policies, Procedures, and the Establishment of People and Assets of the organization.
While Management works to get things done, Administration works to put people and things in place so they can be available to Management to work.
In well-organized organizations, the roles of “Product Officer” and “Organization Officer” are spelled out to support Management at diverse levels of the organization.
While the Product Officer works to get standard production up and in great quantities, the Organization Officer ensures that all executives and staff have everything with which to produce.
Otherwise, there would be, as there are in most organizations worldwide, problems of personnel inadequacy, incompetence, and out-ethics, and poor level and quality of production.
Conclusion
In conclusion, having and using an effective management technology that has all the aspects defined above will make for a resilient organization, with other parts of the formula taken into effective consideration.
So, get organized with management technology and set your business onto the path of prosperity and abundance.
Let us continue to strive to thrive!
